A Prayer for Union Pacific’s Four-O-One-Four

The Four-O-One-Four, a solid reminder that there once was a
war.
Where heavy equipment and artillery sailed
along tracks, across this great nation.
Where our soldiers, our neighbors, stood ready to defend
and protect our country.
The Four-O-One-Four, a solid reminder of collective value,
renewed and restored
will travel along tracks laid by our ancestors who believed and
fought for the freedoms we live
in this great nation.
I pray the steam and discourse building in our communities will
take its cue from the iconic Four-O-One-Four to a place where
we can agree to disagree for the sake of unified forward
movement.
I pray the weight of history will be felt by those who witness its
transcontinental journey,
that it will not take another massive loss of life to realize that it’s
up to each of us to adjust our focus and express our gratitude to
those who came before.
I pray the Four-O-One-Four will never have to deliver for
another war
but will roll with unyielding pride from this great nation.
